Geocache Description:

A local legend.  An unsolved mystery.

Recently, when I was scanning the microfilm in the basement of the Moncton Pubic Library, I came across a local legend that surprisingly, many people are not aware of.  It's the story of George Miller, aka, Geo the Kid.

Geo "The Kid" was born in Bouctouche, but had many an run-in's with the law in Moncton, in the early 1900's.  One of those run-ins remains an unsolved mystery to this day.

In 1912, George Miller got wind of a shipment of precious Albert Country Jewels bound for Moncton. These jewels were intended to be a bribe for the mayor of Moncton to finally reveal the secret of Magnetic Hill.  Mimicking his hero, Jesse James, George hi-jacked the train before it could reach it's destination.  Geo "The Kid" approached the engineer with a loaded 6 shooter, claiming to be a relative of the great Jesse James.  He succeeded in stealing the shipment of jewels, and escaped into the nearby woods.

Local authorities suspected George Miller, and he was apprehended shortly after, in the area now known as Mapleton Park. The jewels and weapon were not on his person.  Having no solid evidence, they were forced to release George, but banished him from ever returning to Moncton.

After his eventual death, several of his acquaintances reported he was always obsessed with one day returning to Moncton, and that he kept muttering the following numbers:

46.07.612 64.51.006

The jewels were never recovered, and no one has ever made sense of the numbers.  It is my personal theory that they could be coordinates to where he hid his stash, hoping to one day return to reclaim it.   Alas, I am too feeble to investigate this myself, so I have reluctantly created this Geo Cache, in the hopes that somebody may solve the mystery, and find Geo's Cash.

Good Luck and God Speed!
