Le Château de La Palice

Le Château se trouve sur la commune de Lapalisse, dans le département de l'Allier, à environ 25 Km de la ville de Vichy.

Histoire : La partie féodale du château a été bâtie entre le xi^e siècle et le xiii^e siècle.

Architecture : Le logis primitif, trois des tours et les courtines datent approximativement du xiii^e siècle, tout comme les remparts complétés au xiv^e siècle. La chapelle de style gothique a été construite en 1461, puis le logis Renaissance à parements de briques fin XV^e début xvi^e siècle.

Parc et Jardins : Le parc, inscrit au pré-inventaire des jardins remarquables et inscrit comme Monument historique le 28 juillet 1998, comporte une conciergerie, une allée, des étangs, un jardin et un pont de jardin en brique. Deux socles de statues de parc en pierre et en marbre sont dépourvus de leur statues (juillet 2013). On y trouve les anciennes écuries et le manège, l'ensemble date du début du xvii^e siècle (1613), puis a été redessiné par le grand paysagiste Paul de Lavenne, comte de Choulot, "gentilhomme de la chambre du duc de Bourbon" et gendre en 1817 de Jean-Frédéric de Chabannes.

The castle is on the municipality of Lapalisse, in the department of Allier, in approximately 25 km of the city of Vichy.

History : The feudal part of the castle was built between the xie century and the xiiie century.

Architecture : The primitive lodging house, three of the towers and curtains date approximately the xiiie century, just like the ramparts completed in the xive century. The chapel of Gothic style was built in 1461, then the lodging house the Renaissance with facings of bricks the fine XVth beginning xvie century.

Park and gardens : The park, registered on the pre-inventory of remarkable gardens and registered as Ancient memorial on July 28th, 1998, contain an apartment house, a path, ponds, garden and bridge of brick-built garden. Two bases of statues of stone and marble park lack of rule them (in July, 2013). We find the former stables and the horse riding school there, the set dates the beginning of the xviie century ( 1613 ), then was redrawn by the big landscape painter Paul de Lavenne, the count of Choulot, " gentleman of the chamber of the duke of Bourbon " and son-in-law in 1817 of Jean-Frédéric de Chabannes.
