A greatwalk on a fine day, not recommended in bad weather or high wind. There are great views along the coast north towards Peel Head, on a clear day a long stretch of the east coast of Ulster can be seen, starting with the Mournes, running up past St John's Point towards Portavogie. In season basking sharks can be seen from the path, most of the year seals are at the Sound, always there are seabirds. Gulls and fulmars are very common, choughs sometimes grace your walk with their acrobatics, as do crows, ravens and the occasional peregrine falcon. On a fine day there may be many small boats below you as you progress, give them a wave as one of them might be us!
To the cache. A smallish tube hidden under a rock close beside the path, on the sea side, no need to go near the edge.
You have passed the start of the rocky area now, the path climbs over rough ground from here. Once you are up to the stile and cache #2 the going is easier, though not smooth.
