Redlands woods found fame in 1963 when, on 16th August, £100,900 was found in a bag in the beauty spot two miles from Dorking. This was part of the train robbery money.
The couple that found the money at Coldharbour, came from the Horsham area and worked at AEI which was then on the Westcott Road, Dorking. They said that their motorcycle had overheated! The money was counted in the little office just off the main reception area; there were bundles of fivers, two tiers about nine inches high stretching for about eight feet along the wall on the office floor.
Redlands woods were also used as a film set in 2001 for the filming of Clash of the Titans.
Parking can be found at 45°11'26.94"N 0°20'48.90"W and it’s a short walk through the woods to the cache
On the way you will pass a marker with a large N on it at 51°11'28.65"N 0°20'40.73"W there is another along the path but I haven’t a Scooby what they are.
The cache is a black bison tucked in a tree near one which has the initials EC in the bark.
Congratulations to BaSHful as first to find
