Arrrrgh! Ahoy there matey…
I know ya bein’ land lubbers ya might not normally be in a piratin’ way but my aim is ta change that. I’m sure ya know these here hills have lil’ caches in ‘em, but ya might not know there be a mighty treasure cache there about too. Back long before yer granmommas be born when this was wild land and still part a ol’ Virginny there roamed a nasty band o’ scallywags that worked their way west from the Chessy. Course they hauled their chests o’ gold, silver an' gems 'cross the mountains and rivers with ‘em and settled ‘mongst the injuns here for a time. Neither one cared much fer the other, but that's a tale for another day.
Their Capt’n on land be the same as led them at sea, a salty old curr by the name of Evil Eye Morgan. Now Cap’ Morgan had not many friends in ‘is younger days as a picaroon and hence lost ‘is eye in a tavern brawl with a crusty Spaniard a bit quicker with his dirk than ol’ Morgan was on his feet. Ever since he be wearin’ the patch and that good eye just got a meaner an’ nastier with every year that passed. They say when he looked upon ‘is treasure that eye was lookin’ like a bloody ruby glowin’ in the night.
Ta make this tale short… one hot summer eve, ol’ Evil Eye carried his favorite chest o’ booty, including that great gem “The Heart Of Darkness” up in ta the hills ta bury it. The only soul he took with ‘im was ‘is yeoman, a crazy ol’ fool go by the name Killler McBee. The Cap’ never returned that night and Killler saw something that changed ‘im forever. Whether a spectre or a beast, we never heard, but somethin’ tore in ta dat pair and sent McBee back to camp a wimperin’ fool. I only heard stories passed down from ‘is kin ta kin but he swore ol’ Morgan’s head was severed from ‘is body an’ hangin’ from a tree when he ran fer ‘is life.
There’s tell of a map of sorts, written by McBee, that gives directions to the spot ol’ Evil Eye lost ‘is head. They say ‘is skull still hangs on the tree there for those brave enough to look for it. An’ those that lived ta tell say ‘is evil eye still stares at that treasure chest with that eerie red glow ta this day!
