Che Guevara,
poster child of student revolutionaries, was a Marxist revolutionary, doctor, writer and military leader.
His ideology was fuelled by two long motorcycle journeys he made while at the university of Buenos Aires. The first was a 2,800 mile solo trip through the rural provinces of northern Argentina on a bicycle on which he installed a small engine. This was followed by a nine-month, 5,000 mile continental motorcycle trek through most of South America.
Che also had a life long love of poetry, although this doesn't appear to have stopped him meting out 'revolutionary justice' when he deemed it appropriate.
