ABOUT THE CHURCH
The church of St. Mary the Virgin is the parish church of Winchfield. The parish of Winchfield is part of the benefice of Hartley Wintney with Elvetham, Winchfield and Dogmersfield, that is in the Deanery of Odiham and the Diocese of Winchester.
St. Mary's has stood in the village of Winchfield for more than 800 years. Dating from about 1150 it was originally built by the monks of Chertsey Abbey. Many of the original Norman features remain to this day including the “treasure” of St. Mary's – its wonderful Norman Chancel Arch.
