Geocache Description:

This is the first cache on a circular walk of just under 9 miles taking in the lovely River Bovey Valley, North Bovey, Easdon Tor and back. It follows bridlepaths, footpaths, moorland paths and quiet country roads. The scenery is beautiful passing through lovely woodlands, open moorlands and typical Devon countryside. It can be wet and muddy in places and there are a few patches where when the bracken is in full swing it encroaches considerably on the path.

This walk can be split in two parts (or more if you wish!)
Loop A - MM1 - 15, then MM31- MM35 - about 6 miles

Loop B - MM-16 (Bovey Bridge) to MM30 (Split) - about 4.5 miles - it is probably best to park in North Bovey for this circuit.

Before setting off you will notice Manaton's village green surrounded by a few very pretty cottages, some of which are thatched. The white building at the top of the green used to be a pub called The Half Moon - unfortunately it is now a private residence so if you need refreshment afterwards you will have to head further down the road!

From the parking area walk along the road to the right of the green, and then at the waypoint, go through the gate on the right and head along the path (locally known as Slinkers Lane) signposted to Horsham and for paths to Lustleigh Cleave or Water to this cache.

The weather on Dartmoor can change suddenly and unexpectedly and ALL types of weather conditions can be experienced. Please ensure that you have the correct clothing and map and compass (and know how to use them). Please do NOT rely solely on your GPS.
