Poios de Hialoclastitos Traditional Geocache

PT: O tufo hialoclastíco é aqui utilizado e aplicado em forma de blocos nas paredes ou muros que suportam os socalcos ou “poios”, material esse que resulta de erupções hidromagmáticas explosivas e apresenta geralmente uma cor amarelada ou acastanhada e estratificação nítida. A estratificação corresponde ao aspecto das rochas que aqui podemos observar. Estes socalcos outrora serviam a agricultura.

Esta cache encontrasse numa de muitas travessas da Levada dos Piornais, mais propriamente na Travessa do Papagaio Verde. O Waypoint fica na Levada dos Piornais, mas pode vir por cima se pretender.

ENG: The tuff hyaloclastite is used here and applied in block forms on the walls that support the terraces or "poios". That material is a result from explosive eruptions formed during volcanic eruptions under water, under ice or where subaerial flows reach the sea or other bodies of water and generally has a yellowish or brownish color and a clear stratification. Stratification that matches the appearance of the rocks that we see here. These terraces once served for the agriculture.

This cache is found on a alleyway of many in the levada of Piornais, more specifically in Travessa do Papagaio Verde. The Waypoint is the Levada dos Piornais, but it can come over by the top if you prefer.
