Geocache Description:

St Helens church - rescurrected Church micro.

The Grade I listed St Helen's church at Cliffe was built about 1260  and was constructed in the local style of alternating layers of Kent ragstone and squared black flint. It is one of the largest parish churches in Kent, and the only one dedicated to St Helen, the size of the church revealing its past importance. It contains wall paintings of the martyrdom of St. Edmund, a Jacobean pulpit, and fine stone carvings.

I remember finding my first Church Micro here in the rain – I really didn’t have much clue about how my GPS worked at the time and remember I cycled here and spent some time wandering around in the rain before giving up and going home discouraged.

The next time I came I knew how to “follow the arrow” in a sensible way and was hence more successful!

This cache has taken me about 6 months to finally put out so enjoy!

So to the cache – Co-ordinates given are for a memorial in the graveyard the information you require is

1/ A Stirling Bomber crashed in Cliffe A4th October 19B2

2/ The youngest person on this memorial also a resident of Cliffe was 2C years old

Now make your way to the second waypoint, a corner of the graveyard where a Grade II listed Charnel house is located, enjoy the view out to the marshes and answer the following:-

3/ The Charnel house cost £D2,000 to complete

4/ the reconstruction of the Charnel house started in 200E and finished on 28th June 200G

Now take a handy seat and work out

N51 2 (A+D) . (A+E-C) (D-A) B

E000 2 (G+C). ((B*A) +C) (E-B-A) (G*0)

GZ is a short stroll away.

If anybody would like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first at churchmicro@gmail.com so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication. There is also a Church Micro Stats & Information page found via the Bookmark list
