Geocache Description:

About SideTracked

We have Motorway Mayhem. We have A-Road Anarchy. But what about public transport users? SideTracked Caches are intended to provide quick Cache-and-dashes at Train Stations.

REALLY SideTracked series are a slight anomaly. These are placed at the site of old closed stations. They can therefore vary a bit from the norm.

Then:

Bradwell railway station was a station on the Wolverton to Newport Pagnell line. It served both Bradwell and the new village of New Bradwell in what was then rural Buckinghamshire, but is now part of Milton Keynes.

The station consisted of a brick-built station building, and single platform opened to traffic in 1867.

The last passenger train ran on 7 September 1964.

Now:

Whilst the station building was demolished the old platform remains intact.  The trackbed through the station has been converted into a cycle way (imaginatively called “Railway Walk”), forming part of the Milton Keynes Redway system.

It is something of a motorway within the Redway system as there are no road crossings for several miles, meaning that you do have to be constantly on the lookout for: commuters on bikes; dog walkers (be especially careful of those extending leads!); leisure cyclists; children going to and from school and groups of drunks coming home from the pub!  (Not all at the same time of course!)  In fact, it is so busy that I suspect more people use it now than they did when it was an actual train line!

The Cache:

You are looking for a cache designed to blend into its surroundings.  Please ensure that you return it in the correct orientation!  You’ll need to bring your own pen as there is only room for the log book.
