Geocache Description:

Simple multi near an isolated and atmospheric church

St Mary' s Church, Little Finborough is in a peaceful and isolated spot well away from the nearest village and main road. The church is small, substantially restored in Victorian times and has special significance for us as several of our ancestors are buried in the graveyard as well as our brother/uncle. When we visited recently we were very pleased to see that the church is now open during the day - previously it was always locked and getting the key was rather complicated. To get to the church, take the turning at N 52° 9.252' E 0° 57.095' towards Little Finborough Hall (there is an electric gate that will open automatically when you get close enough to trigger the sensors; it says authorised vehicles only but anyone visiting the church is authorised to drive through), and turn right along the track to the church.

To find the cache you need first to solve the following questions (recently updated):

1. Find the group of horizontal graves that were once surrounded by railings. William, son of William and Charlotte died on March A0 1825. (NB. There are several William Crosse’s in the graveyard).

2. William’s daughter Sarah died April 10th 187B

3. William lived and died at C-house Hall

4. Go down to the new section of the graveyard and find the grave of Edward James Pearl Cross. How old was he when he died in 2015? Answer = 4D

5. Find the bench in loving memory of Mr Denny. Number of letters in his first name = E

6. How many bells does the church have? Answer = F

If anybody would like to expand  this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first at churchmicro@gmail.com so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication.
