This cache used to be part of the Royal Deesiders Geotour. The Geotour has now finished but the cache can still be logged as a standard cache
Part of the Harry Potter series created by loopylogan across the slopes of Scolty Hill near Banchory.
Beware of the whomping willow, which first appeared in the Chamber of Secrets.
Scolty is just a wee Scottish hill ( 299m) but its 20m Landmark Tower on the summit has a fantastic view. This 6 mile circular cache trail incorporates a section of the Deeside Way and will take 2-4 hours to complete. The Tower, originally built as a memorial to General Burnett who fought alongside Wellington, was restored in 1992 and now can be climbed from within by those with no fear of heights. But hold on tae yer bunnet as the wind is gie fierce when ye stick yer heid oot! This trail has good paths, although parts can be muddy at times. There is one quite steep section and the trail takes in the top of the hill.
