Metallica - amerykański zespół heavymetalowy założony w Los Angeles w 1981 roku przez Jamesa Hetfielda i Larsa Ulricha. Uważany za jeden z najważniejszych i najbardziej wpływowych zespołów metalowych lat 80.
Ciekawostka: Pomysłodawcą nazwy Metallica był promotor muzyki metalowej w San Francisco, Ron Quintana, który pod koniec 1981 roku planował stworzenie nowego czasopisma, mającego promować amerykańskie i brytyjskie zespoły metalowe. Ponieważ miał kilka pomysłów co do nazwy magazynu, zwrócił się o pomoc w wyborze do Larsa Ulricha. Metallica najbardziej spodobała się Ulrichowi, ale chciał jej użyć jako nazwy swojego zespołu. Interesting fact: The originator of the name Metallica was the promoter of metal music in San Francisco, Ron Quintana, who at the end of 1981 years planned to create a new magazine, aimed to promote US and British metal bands. He had some ideas with regards to the name of the magazine, but he asked for help Lars Ulrich. Ulrich liked the name Metallica and he wanted to use it as the name of his band. He therefore suggested "Metal Mania" to Quintana as the name of the magazine. The main creator of the logo to the name Metallica James Hetfield.
