Federation Forest State Park is a little-known gem on the White River with 600 acres of raw Pacific Northwest beauty. The park boasts old-growth Douglas-firs, mature hemlocks, Sitka spruce, and Western red cedars. Seven miles of hiking trails lead you through diverse ecosystems. These trails are short loops that connect, making it great for all ages. The park also has picnic shelters, tables, and extensive wildlife viewing.
Although this geocache is not within the park boundaries, when I stumbled upon this area headed to the park I was captured by its beauty.
After finding this cache, I hope you'll take a drive
through Federation Forest to see its stunning scenery and wildlife.
2016 was the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service, and to celebrate, Visit Rainier and WSGA hosted the Visit Rainier Centennial GeoTour - 100 caches placed in and around Mount Rainier National Park. The geocaches highlighted the rich history, scenic wonders, quaint communities, and hidden gems of the Rainier region. Participants received geocoin and pathtag prizes for finding all the caches.
