Sergeant's Farm Bridge has been raised by Network Rail to make room for the overhead cables for electric trains. The work has taken 6 months - longer than expected. A temporary foot bridge was put in place so the many dog walkers who use Wapley Common and Wapley Bushes Nature Reserve could still get across the railway.
The footbridge was finally re-opened by Cllr Christine Howard, Chairman of Dodington Parish Council on Tuesday 28th April 2015.
Network Rail created a timelapse video of the bridge replacement works, which shows what a engineering task replacing a bridge is. The video can be seen here. It is well worth a viewing.
