Geocache Description:

NOTE: there is nothing hidden at posted coordinates (just a place to park your car). See below for instructions on how to obtain the information required to find this cache.

This cache is part of a series of eight caches related to the game Minecraft. Each of seven preliminary caches has a code word that is required to unlock both later caches in the series and ultimately the eighth and final bonus cache, The Ender Dragon. Please leave laminated clue cards in the cache containers. See the links at the bottom of this listing to access all of the caches in the series.

Diamonds. Finding a rich vein of this highly sought-after ore brings on a surge of adrenaline and provides the weapons and armor to heighten your game to take on the tougher mobs. They are also used in high-level recipes that can lead to superior enchanted equipment.

As a prerequisite to finding this cache, you must first find both Sugarcane and Redstone and Iron Ore. Sugarcane can be used to make paper, and you need Redstone and Iron to make a compass. These two components are used to craft a map:

And a map is what you need in order to find this cache. To get the map, find the code words provided in the final stages of the Sugarcane multicache and the Redstone and Iron Ore multicache. Then you have two options for retrieving the information (both options return the same info):

1) Alphabetize the code words and include them in the subject line of an email to minecraftcaches@gmail.com. An automated reply will provide you with what you need.

2) Download the following password-protected pdf file and create the password thusly: alphabetize the code words, remove all spaces, then for each letter, convert it to a number using its placement in the alphabet (A=1, B=2, etc). For all even numbers, convert them back to letters. So e.g. "CLUE" --> 3 12 21 5 --> 3L215

The cache is a 2-mile loop hike on established trails. There is a road crossing to get from the parking lot to the trailhead--please use caution! At the end there is a short bushwhack through terrain that is overgrown in the warmer months, so long pants and/or bug spray is suggested. There are two reference points for interesting spots to visit along the way, however nothing is hidden at those locations. Difficulty is partially based on requirements of finding previous caches in the series. Terrain is for this hide only.
