As you may have heard (perhaps several times recently), this month marks 15 years since the first ever geocache (or “GPS Stash” as it was called then) was hidden. In the 15 intervening years, over four million geocaches have been hidden around the world, of which some 2.6 million can be found today. To mark the anniversary, a special geocoin was designed. We had intended to distribute it at our Annual General Meeting on May 3, but the coins did not arrive in time. That was too bad, but on the flip side, it gives us an easy excuse to have another pub night!
One hundred coins are available for Manitoba cachers. Ten or so will be distributed amongst Dauphin-area cachers. The rest are available for reservation by any Manitoba cacher. The reservation list can be found on our website. Cost is $15 per coin. Coins not reserved beforehand will enter our general merchandise inventory. Coins reserved, but not picked up within three months will be returned to general merchandise.
