Geocache Description:

Calgarians! Our love for this great city knows no bounds, but for the purpose of this special CITO, we'll consider the shoulders of Deerfoot Trail to be our limits!

This will be a 5-6 hour clean for 50-60 people. Meet at 9:30am at the posted coordinates and be a part of the biggest CITO Calgary has ever seen!

Why a CITO?
As we crawl out of the winter that was, and after a valiant effort during the last Cache and Release, it is clear that we still have some work to do! Calgary gets dirty, and the dirt lays low until Spring. Keeping Calgary in the number one spot on the list of the World's cleanest cities is no small task! But as they say
WE LIKE TO TALK TRASH WHEN WE GEOCACHE!

So, where better to put in our effort than this busy artery of ours, which is congested with trash and needs your help!

Our dedication to "giving back" is a true testament to our generous spirit as geocachers - here we can visibly demonstrate to all other Calgarians that we are a positive influence on our home community!

Event information
Please meet at the posted coordinates at 9:30am. This is a deep shoulder on Dunbow Road just before and after the golf course driveway. There is parking here for at least 20 vehicles. We will put hazard markers around the parked vehicles so that members of the public understand that the vehicles are part of an organized event.

photo Arrow truck_zpspetyxur3.jpgWe will have a brief safety talk, and hand out safety-vests, gloves, litter sticks and garbage bags. We'll split into two teams and within each team, as best as possible, group folks into pairs. One team will clean the northbound verge from the road edge to the fence line, the other team will do the same on the southbound side.

Each team will be chaperoned by "arrow trucks" that will drive at walking speed along the hard shoulder as a safety measure.

photo Map_zpsrkvure87.jpg After the safety talk, the teams will disperse to their sections of Deerfoot Trail (all within eyesight of each other) and the clean-up will begin. We will arrange for some cars to be parked at either end of the section we are cleaning and we will drive all teams to their starting points (no need to walk it twice!). Children are very welcome to attend as long as they are accompanied at all times by an adult. We will leave the full garbage bags at roadside for collection by the maintenance crews.

Late-comers, those who need to retire early, and anyone needing a ride to a restroom will be able to call me to arrange a pick-up. Late-comers should park at the posted coordinates before contacting me. Under no circumstances should anyone attempt to park on Deerfoot Trail. We will distribute water to all volunteers during the clean-up.

Contact information for peanutbutterbreadandjam (Miles) is: photo phone number_zpskazplzkq.jpg.

Please bring water to drink, and dress appropriately for changeable weather conditions, as we will clean the highway until approximately 3:00pm.

At the end
We will have hand sanitizer when we reconvene at the parking coordinates at 3:00pm.
As a special thank you, a unique, custom souvenir will be given to all who have joined us in cleaning up Deerfoot Trail!

For those who wish to, we will say our final goodbyes at the Tim Hortons at South Trail Crossing on 130th Ave SE.
