Geocache Description:

This is a relatively quick park and grab (depending on how long it takes to find parking). The cache is located at the northern entrance to Church Square and extreme CIA stealth is required to retrieve and replace this cache.  Curch Square is a key heritage site and touris destination in the city.

At GZ you will see a metal structure as indicated in the picture. The cache is a magnetic nano on the last support closest to the Square. It is advisable to locate the cache by feeling for it and to rather sign the log somewhere else to avoid being seen by muggles. Due to security concerns this cache is not recomended at night.

Church Square (English) or Kerkplein (Afrikaans), is the historic centre of the city of Pretoria, South Africa.

Its most prominent feature is the statue of the late Boer leader and president of the South African Republic Paul Kruger at its centre. Statues of four anonymous Boer citizen-soldiers surround that of Kruger's on a lower level of the plinth.

Several historically and architecturally significant buildings surround the square: the Palace of Justice, the Old Capitol Theatre, the Tudor Chambers, the Ou Raadsaal (Old Council Chamber) and the General Post Office, which was designed by William Hawke.

The square’s main attraction is a weekly one-hour ceremonial parade held every Wednesday between 21h30 and 22h30. The parades are done by members of the National Ceremonial Guard and accompanied by a South African military band. The procession ends with the raising of the national flag and municipal flag to the sound of the national anthem.
