Geocache Description:

Can be done as a cache and dash but will be nicer if you can stay for a while to explore the area.

You can do this as a cache and dash or you can visit, as we often do in summer, with a picnic and make a good morning, afternoon or day of it.

The parking area can hold about 6 cars - if people park considerately!

There is a lovely walk on the opposite side of the road to the parking. Just follow the path - the higher up one is better if it's been wet as the area alongside the stream can become quite boggy.  After a short walk there is a shallow pool of water and a little further along there is a small waterfall which drops into a deeper pool. There are some large rocks to sit on and usually the area there is 'people free' (Until now as we've told you all about it!)

The stream on the car-parking side is popular with the younger Pinguigloo members as water is like a magnet to them! In the spring there is often a lot of frog spawn to be found around the edges of the stream on the parking side.

We haven't been there (yet), but it appears that there is a medieval village 'nearby' - Challacombe Medieval Village see this link about it: http://www.challacombefarm.co.uk/history.html you may like to go and see it along with a walk that takes in Grimspound too. Google Challacombe Medieval Village for more information on the area.

NOW, back to the caching business........................

The cache is situated on the opposite side of the road to the car parking area, you'll know it's the right parking spot as opposite is a single tree.

Although in the attributes the container is listed as 'small' it is bigger than small (size of an apple) but not quite as big as 'regular' (shoe box size)The cache is a round screw top tub covered with camo-tape. I have replaced it today (4th Feb 2023) and sadly the two trackables that were showing in the original cache were missing. However, I did place a geocoin in there to start it off in it's race to travel as far as possible - Pinguigloo's Dartmoor National Park 2023 Geocoin, if you are the lucky finder please log it and move it to a new cache as soon as possible. Many thanks and happy caching.
