Geocache Description:

Another cache brought to you by a member of the

Before I was married and still living with my parents, one of my hobbies was golf. I played at least once a week and even had a astroturf green in my backyard. Never a great golfer I could every once in awhile shoot in the 70's. It was a huge obsession, but now with family, work and other hobbies, like geocaching, I usually only get to play once or twice a year.

Here you see a score card from when I played on a golf league after work. The league was played at the Greer Golf & Country Club. We played only nine holes, this time it was the back nine. The first hole was long and your drive would sometimes end up nestled on the ground in bits of fruit from the nearby Flowering Crab Apple trees. The Diamond Zoysia greens were small and fast. If you were unlucky to hit over the green you could end up in thickets of Yellow Jasmine and would have to take a penalty drop. The second hole was one of my favorites! You would tee off under the shade of a Juniper tree and even though it was a par four, you could drive the green with just the right roll off of the Bermuda fairways. Next was a challenging par five which was reachable by two shots but the three bunkers near the green made that tough! My lone birdie came on the 5th hole. A par three where you aim at the Tea Olive tree behind the green as your target. Next was a par five, only 410 yards, short for a par five! My approach to this green was errant and ended up against a small Carolina Cherry tree. A miracle pitch got near the pin and somehow I got a par on that hole. Anyway, as you can see, a par was had on every hole to the end, with the last putt bouncing off a petal of a Pink Dogwood that had blown onto the green right before it fell into the cup.

I was lucky enough to shoot even par 36 to be the low score for the league that year and was awarded with a small plaque. Hopefully one day I'll have the time and money to play again. It's a fun, but frustrating sport that you just never seem to master. (Some details of the story have been changed for the benefit of the puzzle.) Good luck!
