A lighthouse is a tower, building, or other type og structure designed to emit light from a system of lamps and lenses and used as a navigational aid for maritime pilots at sea.
Vestpynten fyr, er en fyrlykt på vestsiden av Hotellneset I Nordenskiöld Land på Svalbard. Lykten ble satt opp I 1933 av Norges Svalbard-og Ishavsundersøkelse. Det var da verdens nordligste fyrlykt. Fortsatt står den opprinnelige lykten der, og er nå et vernet kulturminne. Det er bygd en ny lykt ved den opprinnelige. Denne har en heksagonal form. Fyrkarakteristikken på lykten er FL W 5 s. Dette betyr at den har en hvit blink som blinker hvert 5 sekund. Lyset har en rekkevidde på 10 nautiske mil.
Vestpynten Lighthouse, is a beacon of western Hotellneset In Nordenskiöld Land of Svalbard. It was built in 1933 by the Norges Svalbard og Ishavsundersøkelse. It was the world's northernmost lighthouse. The original lantern is still there and is now a protected cultural monument. It's built a new lantern near the original. This has a hexagonal shape. Lighthouses characteristic on the lantern is FL W 5 s. This means that it has a white indicator that flashes every five seconds. The light has a range of 10 nautical miles.
