The Ruabon to Barmouth railway line was built in stages from 1859 until 1867. The section from Ruabon to Llangollen was opened in 1861 as the Vale of Llangollen Railway and ultimately closed in 1965 as part of the Beeching cuts.
Although the rails were removed shortly after closure, much of the route of the line is still preserved and some parts accessible to the public. The series of caches can be done on their own, or as part of a circular route including other caches in the area.
The cache is located at the top of a grassy bank and will require some scrambling to get to it.
