This elegant Medieval church sits next to the great Baroque stately home of Burley-on-the-Hill built in the 1690s, but the church itself dates from four centuries earlier. It was largely rebuilt by JL Pearson in 1868-70 but evidence of the Medieval building remains, notably in the tower, the arcades and the fine 15th-century font. The church contains a beautiful 18th-century memorial to Lady Charlotte Finch, who was a governess to George III’s children and also the inventor of the wooden jigsaw! “If anybody would like to expand this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first at churchmicro@gmail.com so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication. There is also a Church Micro Stats & Information page found via the Bookmark list ”
