| Situado a este da vila, o Convento masculino da Nossa Senhora da Conceição, pertencia à Ordem Terceira de S. Francisco, fundado em 1680 por Fernando Guerreiro e sua irmã, Bárbara de Alvellos, sobre o local onde existiria uma antiga ermida dedicada a Nossa Senhora da Conceição, é composto pelo corpo da igreja e, anexo, pelo edifício conventual.
Em 1834, no âmbito da "Reforma geral eclesiástica" empreendida pelo Ministro e Secretário de Estado, Joaquim António de Aguiar, executada pela Comissão da Reforma Geral do Clero (1833-1837), pelo Decreto de 30 de Maio, foram extintos todos os conventos, mosteiros, colégios, hospícios e casas de religiosos de todas as ordens religiosas, ficando os de religiosas, sujeitos aos respectivos bispos, até à morte do último, data do encerramento definitivo. Os bens foram incorporados nos Próprios da Fazenda Nacional.

Situated east of the town, the masculine convent of the Nossa Senhora da Conceição, belonged to the Third Order of S. Francisco, funded in 1680 by Guerreiro and his sister, Bárbara de Alvellos, on top of the local where existed an old hermitage dedicated to Nossa Senhora da Conceição, is composed by the body of the church and, annexed, by the conventual edifice.
In 1834, in the scope of the "General ecclesiastic reform" undertaken by the Minister and Secretary of the state, Joaquim António de Aguiar, executed by the Commission of the Reforma Geral do Clero (1833-1837), by the Decree of 30 of May, all the convents were extinct as well as the monasteries, colleges, hospices and religious houses of all masculine religious orders, remaining those of feminine religious, subject to the respective bishops, until the death of the latter, date of the definitive closing. The goods were incorporated in the Próprios da Fazenda Nacional.

| A arquitectura exterior denota o gosto popular da época maneirista, e a fachada principal apresenta frontão triangular e torre sineira lateral.
Um arco dá acesso ao portal de entrada, marcado, em frente, por um cruzeiro.
A igreja, de dimensões modestas, é constituída por uma única nave coberta por abóbada de berço.
Possui altares em talha dourada dos séculos XVII e XVIII, e a capela-mor é decorada com azulejos onde predominam os tons de azul.
Nas paredes e no tecto, são ainda visíveis pinturas ilustrativas do Presépio e do casamento de Maria e José.
Ao lado, o edifício conventual estende-se em redor do claustro arcado, de simplicidade franciscana.

The external architecture denotes a popular taste of the mannerist epoch, the main façade presents triangular pediment and ringer lateral tower.
An arch gives access to the entrance portal, marked, at the front by a cross.
The church, of modest dimensions, is constituted by a sole nave covered by arch of cradle.
It has golden altars carved from the XVII and XVIII centuries, the major chapel is decorated with azulejos where the blue predominates.
On the walls and on the roof, there are also paintings of the Nativity scene and the wedding of Maria and José.
On the side, the conventual edifice stretches around the arched cloister, of franciscan simplicity.

Edifício de cariz religioso, o convento de Nossa Senhora da Conceição entrou rapidamente em declínio com a extinção das ordens religiosas, em meados do século XIX. Sucessivamente ocupado por instituições públicas, escolas, associações particulares, entre outras, o seu estado de degradação aumentou exponencialmente ao longo do século XX. Recentemente (2012/2013), o Município resgatou-o da deterioração que ameaçava toda a sua estrutura. O projeto de remodelação transformou o antigo convento no Fórum Cultural de Almodôvar, uma megaestrutura que compreende, entre outras valências, um espaço internet (gratuito), um Museu de Arte Sacra, Receção e Loja, Cafetaria e Esplanada, Salas para Oficinas de Música e Artes Plásticas e várias Salas Polivalentes, todos eles já adaptados às necessidades de indivíduos com mobilidade reduzida.

Building of religious appearance, the convent of Nossa Senhora da Conceição quickly started to decline with the extinction of the religious orders, in the half of the XIX century. Successively occupied by public institutions, schools, particular associations, among others, its condition of degradation increased exponentially along the XX century. Recently (2012/2013), the Municipe rescued it from the deterioration which menaced all its structure. The remodelation project transformed the old convent into the Cultural Forum of Almodôvar, a mega-structure which includes, between other valences, an internet space (free), a Museum of Sacral Art, Reception and shop, Cafeteria and esplanade, rooms for music ateliers and plastic arts and several multi-purpose rooms, all of them already adapted for the needs of individuals with reduced mobility.
