The stated co-ordinates are outside the original Wesleyan Methodist Chapel in Robin Hood's Bay. The original place of worship was built in the mid 18th Century and gradually grew in size over the next hundred years as further land and adjacent buildings were acquired. Coastal erosion over the subsequent years resulted in the church making the decision in the 1930's to relocate from the old village to a coverted manor house in the newer part of the village.
During it's life the building has been the local boy's school, a warehouse, a wartime army hostel. The completion of the sea wall in 1973 to stop further coastal erosion has seen the building have many further uses including a secondhand bookshop, a vegan café and an artist studio.
On the outside of the building is a 4 digit date stone - WXYZ
