Southern Indiana Scavenger Hunt Event Event Cache

Mama Jane and I attended (crashed) an event like this in South Carolina last September and loved it!  The fine folks with the USCGA Scavenger Hunt-Spartanburg agreed to let us copy it here and have provided guidance and encouragement.  This hunt will be a combination traditional, digital and team challenge based scavenger hunt.

The event begins Saturday, April 18th at 9:00 am in the parking lot of SWIRCA & More at 16 W. Virginia St. in Evansville  The event will culminate at West Public Library on West Franklin Street where you will turn in your score sheet at 12:15.

Here's how it will work:

*We will hunt in teams..  Teams will have no more than 4 geocachers.  Children under 13 are not counted in the numbers.

*Come up with a team name.  There will be a prize for the best team name.

*Teams must travel in 1 single vehicle.  There is plenty of room to leave excess vehicles in the SWIRCA parking lot.

*At least one member of the team must have a phone or digital camera capable of taking photos and videos.  It is suggested you have more than one in case of malfunction. 

*All members of the team must stay together.  You cannot split up to complete any of the items on the list.

******When logging your "Will Attend" please include if you are part of a team so we will know how many teams we will have.  If you are solo and want to join a team, please say so in your "Will Attend" log.

Here's the schedule:

9:00 - 9:30 Arrive and sign in.  Give your team name and members' names.  Designate a team leader who will be responsible for receiving and turning in score sheets.  All team members must be present at the registration!  Any team not signed in by 9:30 will NOT have their scores counted towards prizes.

9:30 - Go over rules and regulations of scavenger hunt (there are more)

9:45 - Distribute sealed scavenger hunt score sheets (no peeking)

9:50 - Open scavenger hunt score sheets - On your marks, set......

9:55 - Begin hunt

9:55 - 12:00 Scavenger Hunt

12:00 - 12:15 - Turn in score sheets for scoring at library.  ALL team members must be present at the turn-in.

1:00 - 3:00 - Lunch and award winners - We will have pizza for lunch.  Bring your own drinks.

Prizes will be awarded to the top scorers.

Bring with you:

- An open mind (Jane had to talk me into this in SC - It seemed a lot of time with not a lot of caches - I'm glad she did,  I had a blast!)

-A sense of adventure

-Pen

-GPS

-Charger for phone or extra batteries for camera

Keep in mind - a couple new caches are planned to be published during the scavenger hunt.
