Saxon Woods has lots of nice trails and caches, but also one trail, down by the lake, where piles of trash and discarded plastic bottles make hiking and caching less than pleasant. This Earth Day and CITO Weekend (April 25/26), we will again try and clean up a good portion of it. The event has the okay of the Parks Department, who will provide trash receptacles and some other equipment as needed.
We meet at the parking coordinates around 930am on Saturday April 25, and from there move to the cleanup location down by the lake (see waypoint coordinates), which is about 0.7mi from the parking lot. Bring sturdy boots that don't mind to get wet and dirty - if you have waterproof boots, even better. Also bring leather gloves. As per Parks Department guidelines, we will cancel the event in case of severe weather, but a little drizzle or rain won't faze us.
Like last year, we can use the Picnic Pavillion in the park for the day, and we will hold a picnic event (GC5P6KD) there right after the CITO (around noon).
