#13 Rijeka – candidate city for ECoC 2020 Mystery Cache

Support the candidacy of Rijeka for European Capital of Culture 2020.

Uz groblje je 1934. podignuta crkva sv. Romualda i svih svetih, tzv. Votivni hram, čije bijele okomice slijede okolne zelene čemprese. Arhitekt Bruno Angheben osmislio je avangardističko zdanje, u duhu svoga vremena. Ipak, ono nadilazi sva ideološka ograničenja tadašnjih i kasnijih političkih avangardi.

In 1934, the Saint Romuald and All Saints Church was built close to the cemetery, the so called Votive temple, whose white vertical lines follow the green cypresses. The architect, Bruno Angheben, designed the avant-garde building in the spirit of his own time. However, it goes beyond all ideological limitations of that period’s and latter political avant-garde constructions.
