Geocache Description:

****This puzzle IS NOT at the posted coordinates****

Solve the puzzle and it will lead you to a special type of cache!

Twenty years ago in college we didn't have debit cards or cash advances to alleviate the timing of cash flows (running short before payday).  Therefore it was common for people to "float" a check.  It's almost impossible to float a check today due to advanced POS systems and online check readers but the process was simple:

Before payday you write checks for items you need to local retailers who will take your checks & the checks would not "post" until after payday.  Here is why....

1) A written check was not debitted to your account until the merchant deposited the check into their bank

2) If the bank of the merchant was different than your bank it would take an extra day to post because that bank would have to notify your bank someone placed a liability on a portion of your account balance.

3) Merchants do not always deposit the contents of their safe daily

4) If your check was not deposited until after the bank was closed or in conjunction with a holiday week  (writing a check on Friday night) it gave you a few extra days

5) Payroll and government deposits (payday) were given credit the same day (no waiting period)

So if you played your cards right you could technically advance yourself money up to 4 days before you had to pay it back.  Sometimes the gamble didn't pay off and you risked a $5 or $10 NSF fee per check.  This is one of the reasons banks put "holds" on the funds deposited from personal checks!

So I was digging through some of my old college textbooks and found a few copies of "floated" checks that didn't work out!  I think that was the last time I took a chance like that because I racked up a ton of NSF charges!  After going down memory lane I noticed something......

What I noticed was the checks contained some information that appeared to be coordinates. Lucky for me those cooridnates were in Georgia AND near work.  Can you figure out where the cache is?

Check out the gallery if you are curious to see what I "really needed"
