St Peters was built around 1833 after the new Rector William Bouverie wasn’t impressed with the old church. He convinced Charles Baring Wall, Lord of the Manor that a new church was needed. Charles Wall gave the land and £500 to build the new church. The old church, which was across the road were the small cemetery can still be seen, was pulled down and the new one built. The bells, font and other artefacts were used from the old church in the new church.
The events were recorded on the cover of the Baptismal Records

14th march 1832 Foundation stone of the new Parish Church was laid
16th April 1833 The New Church with the ground walled in around it was consecrated by Charles Sumner, Lord Bishop of Winchester
