Geocache Description:

Join this years urban quest to complete challenges similar to the TV show...win and be named the 2015 Amazing Geocache Race Champion!! We will meet from 11:00 - 12:45 to fuel up and talk about the race guidelines. If you do not want to eat, no problem, feel free to mingle and meet and greet other cachers from around the midwest.

Q's Race Day Info

( 5 events & 30+ new urban style caches )

7:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. CIGA All you can eat Pancake & Sausage Breakfast (GC5MNK2)

Central Illinois Geocaching Association will host this event at the Spitler Woods large pavillion. Meet up with your team members for a pre race breakfast. For $5 you can eat all you want and swap geocaching stories or trade travel bugs. There will also be 30+ new urban style geocaches that will publish on friday for you to download. If you forget, find Peoria Bill and he can download them to your GPS (please bring your cord). These 30 caches are not part of the race but will give you 30 extra smileys on the day. Just be sure to be on time for the next event. If you don't want to eat, no problem, feel free to mingle and meet & greet other geocachers from around the midwest.

10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. CIGA's Amazing CITO 2015 (GC5M8DJ)

Central Illinois Geocaching Association will host this event at a local park to help clean up the area. Garbage bags will be provided, and since this will also be the official Geocaching CITO Day, we will all pick up the souvenir for attending.

11:30 - 1:00 Q's Amazing Geocaching Race "the Starting Line" (GC5KWZR)

This is the "prefered and approved" lunch eating location.
The business owner is a geocaching supporter and makes a delicious cheeseburger!
Gather your friends, come up with a team name and enjoy a fun and exciting day.

There can be 21 teams from 1-4 members each.
If you plan on participating, when you log your Will Attend, please list your team name and the geocaching names of your members. I will be updating this cache page as the teams sign up. If you have seen the television show, then you are ready to go... At 12:15 each team will be handed an official race packet. Inside you will find a list of 21 GPS locations around the Decatur area where you will have to perform a certain task. You will have a score card to record you answers to the questions to each task. At 12:30 one member of the team will draw from a hat, their starting time (12:45-1:00 ) and their starting location (1-21). You will not finish all 21 tasks! At 5:00 p.m. we will all meet at the finish line event to decide the winners. The 4 teams with the highest scores will be awarded. Each task will be worth 200 points. Please be safe and obey all trafiic rules and regulations.

1:00 - 5:00 Q's Amazing Geocache Race (non geocaching event)

You will have 4 hours to race around the decatur area and complete a number of tasks. You will be given a race sheet that will have the coordinates to the 21 task locations. Their is no need to punch them all in, because you will not finish them all. One member of the team will draw for starting time and starting location. To keep from everyone meeting at one task location, each team will start at a different location. Please try to follow the tasks in order. If you start at task #9, then your next task should be # 10, then #11. This will help with teams "bunching up" at one location. You will probably meet up with other teams along the way, but don't share any information about a task, since this is a competive race. At 5:00 p.m. you are expected to be checked in at the Finish Line event. Hand your card to a judge so that they can write your time of arrival on the card. Each judge will have an answer sheet and can tally one card in 2-3 minutes. We will announce the winner rather quickly. If you are late, you will be deducted points. 1-15 minutes late - 200 points 16-30 minutes late - 500 points and 30+ minutes late disqualification.

3:00 - 3:15 Amazing Group Photo Flash Mob hosted by CIGA (GC5MABE)

Central Illinois Geocaching Association (CIGA) will be hosting a "take a picture of us" flash mob. The location is centrally located between all the locations and each team will be awarded 200 points for attending. You must have Major_Boothroyd stamp your score card in the appropiate place to get the points. Plenty of parking available. After Smiley Guy snaps an approved photo then everyone can return to their race task locations to resume the race. If you are a geocacher that is not in the race, and want to attend the flash mob, please feel free to mingle and meet & greet other geocachers from around the area. But, don't expect most of them to stand around and chit chat for more than 15 minutes...hehe.

5:00 - 7:00 Q's Amazing Geocache Race "the Finish Line"(GC5KX37)

This is the final checkpoint for this leg of the race. The last team to check in here.....may be eliminated.
( quoted from the television show )
All teams who are participating in the race must check in here and have their scorecards signed by a judge. There will be multiple judges and they each have an answer sheet, so they can tally up the scores in 2-3 minutes. This means a winner will be announced sooner rather than later. Once the scores are totalled, the top 4 teams with the most points will be awarded.
Once you have checked in, CIGA will be hosting a cookout across the parking lot. For only $5 you can grab a bratwurst or hamburger meal with a drink. There will also be a DJ with music and CIGA will have a table set up to swap Travel Bugs and you can buy t-shirts or CIGA coins. If you are not part of the race and do not want to eat, no problem. Feel free to mingle and meet & greet with other geocachers from around the area. Once the winners have been announced, feel free to stay or leave whenever you like.

Friday Night Event Added: Levi's 11th Birthday Event (GC5MZGZ)7:00 p.m. - 9 p.m. (GC5MZGZ)

For those who plan to be in the area to cache on Friday the 24th, .... April (Shortcacher) will be hosting a Smores Campfire event on Friday night in Shelbyville ( 30 minutes south of Decatur )..or bring your own hot dog and extras to cook on the campfire.

FINALLY.... Please remember...if you are going to participate in the race...when you log your will attend...please list your team name and your team members geocaching names. Hope to see you all there.
