Come and Celebrate Mardi Gras (Shrove Tuesday) with fellow geocaching friends.
Fat Tuesday
"Mardi Gras" is a French terma and literally means "Fat Tuesday." This is because it is the last day before fasting starts for lent, and everyone has a big party and "pigs" out on yummy things.
Traditionally, it is the last day for Christians (who celebrate this) to indulge—and often overindulge—before Ash Wednesday starts the sober weeks of fasting that come with Lent. Formally known as Shrove Tuesday, Mardi Gras has long been a time of extravagant fun for European Christians!
Pancakes, dumplings, etc. have traditionally been served on Mardi Gras, sadly though we will not be taking part in that tradition and will have to rely on whats on the menu. Each for himself, come have supper or just come for a drink.
As this day falls during the week, we will not stay up late. The children have school the next day!
