Geocache Description:

One of a series of ten church micros placed in Chesham. Due to proximity issues the hides on some are grouped together so please read the cache page. This one would fit well with Chesham URC and Chesham Broadway and Latimer .

The building of Christ Church was instigated by the Vicar of Chesham in the 1860s, the Reverend A. F. Aylward, who saw the need for a church to serve the growing population of Waterside. The Revd Frederick Aylward was the first Vicar of Christ Church until the ecclesiastical parish was established in 1867. Christ Church was a parish church, with St George’s Tylers Hill as a daughter church, until 1980 when the parish of Great Chesham was formed. It was always planned to extend Christ Church by having a north aisle and a tower or spire, but various plans never came to fruition. The present hall which was completed in 1986 was built on the site of the possible north aisle.
