Pi, a Greek letter, also spelled "π" has been the representation of an infinate number we all come to cherish as 3.14 or the ratio of the circumference of the circle to its diameter. First used in the 18th century, we continue to use it today, sometimes spanning digits as far as 3.14159265359. (This is where I got the name of the event!!!) Granted, this is generally used in the mathematics world of college and beyond, or for those who try to set world records by memorizing over 67,000 digits of Pi.
Also granting, I like pie, and whenever March 14 rolls around, the geeks among my friends and I try and celebrate with a slice of our favorite.
THIS event will not be dedicated to pie.... unless you choose to bring your own... but to celebrate the Greeks who came before us and celebrate this anomoly of the mathematical world, statistically speaking, and the date itself! It may be cold, it may be warm, no one really knows, but I invite each of you to grab a bed sheet or a toga or borrow one from your local college Greek-life comrade and join me! Of course, if none of these are available, your best pj's or casual wear can surely do.
There may or may not be Ionic columns and sundials awaiting you!
and from the website "TypeGreek.com" .................. Ηαππψ Πι Δαψ
because I totally need help an have NO idea how to speak or write in Greek.
