Geocache Description:

Qatar Ministry of Environment announced new rules for winter camping during September 2013. 


Winter camping ais a favourite passtime for Qatari residents.

Applicants for winter camping:

  • Should not be less than 21,
  • Must protect the environment and not destroy the greenery around camps.
  • The use of loudspeakers has been banned.
  • Campers must not disturb neighbouring camps by carrying out unnecessary activities.

The camping season normally starts in early October and runs until middle April of each year. Registration for spaces begins at the end of September and continues until early December. Applicants can submit requests for licences by logging on to the ministry’s website www.moe.gov.qa or visit the nearest department concerned of the ministry.

Departments are in Doha, Umm Salal, Al Rayyan and Al Shamal, open from 8am to 2noon and 5pm to 7pm.

Camping spaces have been allotted in Semaisma, Ras Al Nuwaf, Ras Matbakh, Al Dakhira, Al Marona, Fuwairit, Al Ghariya, Al Mafir, Ishairij, Umm Al Ma, Al Mazrouh, Umm Al Afai, Al Hashi, Rawdat Aisha (east and west), Rawdat Rashid, Zikrit, Baruq, Al Sariya, Al Kharaij, Salwa, Sealine, Al Udaid, Al Naqyan, Al Kharara, Al Mayada, Al Zabara and Al Ghashamiya.

Enjoy your trip to the cache; note all the interesting camp sites (in winter) and remember: protect the environment by staying on the dirt roads and not driving over desert flora.
