St Peter’s
From evidence in the north wall, the parish church of St Peter's originated in the late 12th or early 13th century. The windows and glass reflect the history of the church and its time. Norman churches like St Peter's were built on hills, however small, to give tactical advantage to defend against attack from foreign invadors.
This church has a 12th century nave, 15th century belfry and 19th century chancel. It stands in a pleasant setting overlooking Hanningfield reservoir.
The cache has a log book but no pen so please bring one with you.
PLEASE REPLACE THE LOGBOOK IN THE ZIPLOCK BAG AS THIS KEEPS IT DRY !!
If any body would like to expand to this series please do, could you please let sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication.
