I love events, they are a time to put faces on the caching names, revive old friendships, meet new cachers, make new friends, chow down on some pretty tasty food and desserts. Of course there are also many caches in the area that are just begging to be found before and after the eats are done, and not to mention the occasional puzzle hint that may just be dropped in casual conversation ...
