THE POSTED COORDINATES ARE USELESS!
Welcome to the Alpha Centauri Art Museum, home to some of the greatest works of art collected throughout the galaxy over the past 3 centuries. There's rumors that deep within the vaults of the museum, there is a painting known as the Masterpiece Codex, which ultimately leads to the location of a mysterious treasure.
Unfortunately, the vaults aren't accessible to the general public. So, we're going to have to break in to get them. Since you've got brains, we're going to need your help to do that, and figure out the location hidden in the painting as well. We'll give you the instructions as necessary.
First off, there are two keypads that keep the main entrance locked. The both have different codes, and both codes must be entered simultaneously. Furthermore, after 10 failed attempts on either keypad, an alarm alerting the guards to our presence will be triggered. However, we have hacked the keypads to give us some information after each failed guess. Here's the data we'll be provided.
First column: The attempt number
Second column: Our guess
Third column: The number of digits in that guess that are used in the final combination, but not in the correct spot
Fourth column: The number of digits in that guess that are in their correct location in the final combination
Hopefully, you can deduce the two combinations from our first attempt at the heist.
Once you've figured out the correct combinations, enter them both into the text box at this link to proceed. Once you've gotten that correct, we'll fill you in on the next step.
When you go to find the cache, please park at one of the two recommended parking lots. DO NOT park on Hill road or the access road to the Hill Road Day Use area.
This Series:
This cache is part of the SPACE 2081: A Geocaching Odyssey challenge.
This challenge contains one cache of each difficulty and terrain combination, plus a final cache which can be found only after finding all 81 caches that are part of the series. Each of those 81 caches will contain a code, which you will use as part of the puzzle to solve the FINAL CACHE.
All the members of the space team are actual cachers who are remaining anonymous for the moment. You can find more info on the series, as well as a complete list of released caches HERE. Please do not post hints or spoilers in your logs. Also, each cache must be signed by any individual cachers going for the final.
