Geocaching NSW would like to extend an invitation to all geocachers to travel to the picturesque Mid-North Coast region of Port Macquarie and Laurieton for our 2015 Regional Invasion during the weekend of the 14th/15th February.
Port Macquarie is a shade over four hours drive from Sydney, travelling mainly on freeway conditions, so it is well within the reach of many geocachers.
There are lots of fabulous geocaches to be found in this region so why not team up with a few friends and enjoy a fantastic weekend of geocaching fun.
On the Saturday evening, we will meet at the Port City Bowling Club for an enjoyable dinner get-together. We are reliably informed by local geocaching guru, pprass, that this venue is a winner representing value for money.
Event details are as follows:
Date: Saturday, 14th February, 2015
Venue: The Port City Bowling Club - 4 Owen St, Port Macquarie
Time: 7:30pm to 9:00pm for dinner
Menu: We will be dining in the Club Buffet. This is an "All-You-Can-Eat" format with Saturday night being Seafood Night. There is a large selection of seafood including prawns, mussels, seafood salads, crab portions and hot seafood dishes. Also, you can select from the carvery, Chinese dishes, soups, salads and pastas as well as pizza, garlic bread, chips, spring rolls, fish pieces and chicken. A variety of desserts are on offer.
Cost: Adults and Children over 12yrs - $26.50pp, Children (8-12yrs) - $15.50pp, Children (4-7yrs) - $13.00pp
Bookings: To assist us with determining numbers for this event so tables can be booked, could you please indicate how many from your team will be dining with us in your “Will Attend” log. Based on the information provided in those logs, we will be confirming numbers with the club on Thursday, 12th February.
Dress: Normal club dress regulations apply.
After dining, for those who would like to, we will gather in one of the club's lounge areas to continue our socialising. If there are geocachers who would like to attend this event but don't wish to dine with us, then this would be the time to come along. If this is what you prefer, in your "Will Attend" log, could you please indicate that you will not be dining with us.
There is plenty of accommodation in the Port Macquarie/Laurieton area including B&Bs, hotels, motels, caravan and camping parks. An internet search will come up with a number of options for you to choose from.
Events are a great way to meet new people and make new friends with a common interest, pick up the latest information on equipment, techniques and software and share stories about the latest caching adventure. You may even pick up a hint or two on those annoying DNFs.
