Im Timanfaya Nationalpark gibt es eine Kamelstation, wo täglich etwa 50 Kamele "Dienst schieben" und zahlungswillige Touristen durch einen kleinen Teil der sonst für Menschen gesperrten Vulkanlandschaft schaukeln.
Der größte Teil ihres Weges ist nicht zugänglich, aber es gibt einige wenige Stellen, an denen man sich mit der Kamera direkt an ihrem Weg aufbauen kann.
Die Cache-Location ist solch ein Ort. Wer sich etwas auskennt, merkt sofort, dass es sich bei den Tieren nicht um Kamele (zwei Höcker), sondern um Dromedare handelt (ein Höcker). Da jedoch in jedem Prospekt und auf allen Schildern für "Camellos" geworben wird, benutze ich die ungenaue Bezeichnung "Kamele" trotzdem. Sie wurden im 19. Jahrhundert aus Marokko als Last- und Reittiere eingeführt und vermehrten sich seitdem unter der Obut der Menschen wunderbar (siehe den Cache "Camellos di Uga 2).

There's a camel station in Timanfaya National Park where every day about 50 camels are on duty carrying tourists willing to pay throug a small part of the volcanic landscape that otherwise is inaccessible to humans. Their corrals are in the little town of Uga ). In the morning they are led to the mountains and return in the afternoon - 1.5 hours of walking each.
Most part of their way is inaccessible but there are some few spots where you can take post with your camera directly beside their path. The cache location is one of them. Everybody familiar with this kind of animals will immediately notice that actually they are no camels (2 humps) but dromedaries (1 hump). But as every ad talks about "camels" I'll stick to that term. Camels were imported from Morocco in the 19th century to serve as for transportation and riding and since then have brad under human care (see the cache "Camellos di Uga 2").
In the evening the camel leaders use to knock off about 4 p.m. so the caravan train will go past the cache bout 5.30 p.m. (If you want to be sure about the time ask at the camel station in Timanfaya.) In case of need you can park your car directly at the cache location in a byway branching off there. Be sure to do so OFF THE BEATEN TRACK ! But it's much better to park right at the beginning of the dust road and walk abt. 300 m by foot. At the cache location chose your camera position immediately because once the caravan arrives you'll have to act quite quickly.
