Kättemad

1940 blir Gustav Andersson ägare till gården Sjöhemmet i Rolstorp tillsammans med sin fru. Han var bonde men försörjde sig huvudsakligen via ett annat yrke som vi återkommer till längre fram. Som namnet på gården antyder ligger den naturskönt ett stenkast från sjön Flåren.

Gustav var känd för sin humor och fantasi, hans historier underhöll många. En av hans berömda historier från hans tid som utvandrad till Amerika där han arbetade som skogshuggare, den lyder;

”Jag drömde att en vacker flicka kysste mig. Men när jag vaknade och öppnade ögonen stod en stor grizzly och slickade mig”.

Traktens ungdomar kunde Gustav underhålla i timmar, bjöd man på brännvin blev historierna än bättre! Historien om när sjöodjuret i Flåren skulle fångas är en annan typisk Gustav på Sjöhemmet-historia;

”Vi mauade med en späkalv och en kraftig kätting runt ladan på Kättemad. Och kan ni tänka er det bubblade som en potategryta när Kättemads lada försvann i djupet”.

Vi vill nu ta er till platsen där Kättemads lada stod, innan den enligt Gustav försvann med sjöodjuret ner i Flåren.

Ta er till de angivna koordinaterna. Där finner ni en glasburk med namnet på Gustavs fru. Ni behöver inte öppna burken. En känd händelse var när hon 1950 låg för döden. Gustav säger då ”Innan du kollnat lilla du, är här ett nytt fruntimmer på Sjöhemmet”.

Nästa steg hittar ni genom att räkna ut följande från Gustavs frus namn:

När Gustavs fru dog så beklagade han sig, men inte så som man trott. Han sa ”Att detta skulle inträffa mitt i ……”. Mitt i vad? Svaret finns i glasburken ni finner vid era senaste koordinater.

Ta platsnumret i alfabetet som första bokstaven i svaret har och subtrahera 5 så får ni XX.

Ta antalet bokstäver i svaret så får ni Y.

Vid dessa koordinater finner ni cachen.

Lämningar av Kättemad finns ca 60 meter rakt söder om cachen. Dessa är fornminnesmärkta så för att skydda dem ligger inte cachen precis där men gå gärna dit och ta en titt!

Cachen är en liten plåtlåda som innehåller en loggremsa i glasburk samt en liten påse för mindre bytesföremål och TBs.

Kättemad

In 1940 Gustav Andersson and his wife become the new owners of a farm named Sjöhemmet in Rolstorp. Gustav was a farmer but his main source of income was a different vocation that we'll get back to later. Just as the name Sjöhemmet suggests it's located near the lake of Flåren.

Gustav was known for his sense of humor and wild imagination, his stories entertained everyone. One of his famous stories is from the time he lived in America, working as a lumberjack;

”I dreamt that a beautiful girl kissed me. When I woke up and opened my eyes a huge grizzly bear was licking me”.

Gustav would entertain the local youngsters for hours. If you gave him some liquour the stories got better and better! The story about the attempted capture of the monster in lake Flåren is another typical Gustav story;

”We baited with a young calf and wrapped a strong chain around the barn at Kättemad. Can you imagine how the lake bubbled like a boiling pot of potatoes when the barn sank into the lake”.

Now we want to take you to the place where the Kättemad barn once stood, before it joined the sea monster in the lake, well according to Gustav that is.

Go to the specified coordinates. There you'll find a small glass jar containing the name of Gustav's wife. You do not need to open the jar. One notable event happened in 1950 when she was on her death bed. Gustav tells her ”Before you're cold dear there will be another woman at Sjöhemmet”.

You can find the next stage by calculating it from Gustav's wife's name:

Get X by taking the last letter of her name and looking it up in the table of letters below.

At these coordinates you will find another glass jar, in it you can read what Gustav's main vocation was. It's in Swedish but we have a small dictionary here. Use the Swedish word for the calculations.

Take the number of letters in his vocation, multiply it by three and subract 1. That gives you XX.

When Gustav's wife died he complained, but perhaps not as you'd expect. He said ”Why should this happen in the middle of ……”. In the middle of what? The answer is in the glass jar you'll find at the next stage. It's in Swedish but we have a small dictionary here. Use the Swedish word for the calculations.

Take the first letter of the word and look it up in the table. Then subtract 5 and you will get XX.

Y is the number of letters in the word.

These coordinates give you the location of the final stage.

Remains of what used to be the cottage at Kättemad can be found around 60 meters south of the cache. They're a protected site so the cache is placed a little bit away in order to protect them but feel free to go there and have a look!

The cache is a small metal box containing a log in a glass jar and a little baggie for tradable items or trackables.
