Geocache Description:

War Memorial cache #32 We will remember them ~ Easington Lane.

This memorial was unveiled in 1921 by Lord Joicey. This Grade II listed memorial is an impressive tall six stage structure with a clock tower on the 5th stage. It was built from the stone of Hetton Hall which had been demolished and cost £2000 to build.

The original inscription was "In memory of the fallen and in honour of the returned sailors and soldiers of Easington Lane and Elemore Colliery who fought in the Great War 1914-1919" but this was adapted to In memory of the fallen and in honour of the returned members of all H.M.
