MILD SPOILERS AHEAD
Season 4 of the Walking Dead featured an endless walk on an abandoned railway. This cache is going to mirror that boring “epic” journey with a little help from our imaginations. Anyone who successfully finds the cache without turning into one of the Undead achieves the rank of Survivor and gets to eat burgers with Tasha Yar.
Mission 1: Find Maggie
Park at the coordinates provided. The trailhead starts at the cache coordinates. Assume the role of either Glenn, Rosita, Abraham, Tara, or Mullet Man and head Northeast on the Short Line trail. Waypoint 1 is the remains of the overturned bus Maggie was last seen boarding. Make sure her charred remains aren’t there and read the sign by the fish birdhouse. Add 1 to the number to the right of "First Birdhouse on Trail". If you do see charred remains, they are probably just Aunt Beru’s.
Head East to Waypoint 2. You come across a dark tunnel echoing with the moans of unseen walkers lurking within (or at the very least the end of the trail). No sane person would ever enter a tunnel full of the undead, so we will have to turn around. While you are here, you may as well count the number of benches. If you are Glenn, you may want to see if Rosita is interested in being a replacement Maggie. If you are Rosita, “How you doing?”
Head West toward Maiden Choice Lane. Before crossing the street you run into Maggie. She mentions that she saw a train car advertising a place called “Terminus”. She didn’t write any of the necessary info down because she didn’t have a pen handy (obviously she is no geocacher). So now we have to walk all the way to the other end of the trail. Gee thanks Maggie. Hopefully you wrote down how many benches there were…
Mission 2: Find the Train
You could drive to the 3rd waypoint, but are you going to be that guy/gal? Really? You'll be missing out on some much needed exercise and possibly other caches. Just don’t let Mullet Man navigate, ok!
Assuming you want to get exercise and enjoy the trail, it is time to cross the street. Make sure you look both ways before crossing Maiden Choice Lane and hold onto your children. You don’t want Daryl to waste a whole season looking for them. Head Southwest to the other end of the trail (Waypoint 3). You will have to cross Paradise Ave later on which is not a busy intersection, but still be mindful of your children and try to avoid walkers.
At the end, you should see a Train. Pay close attention to the color of the engine. To the right of the train, you will see a black Catonsville Rails to Trails sign. Make note of how many words are on the 4th line.
Mission 3: Find Terminus.
Add the number you wrote down at Waypoint 1, the number of benches you found at Waypoint 2 and the number of words in the 4th line you found at Waypoint 3. Call that number X.
If the train engine is RED, the coordinates are N39 16.(226 + X) W076 43.(216 + X)
If the train engine is GREEN, the coordinates are N39 16.(194 + X) W076 42.(975 + X)
If the train engine is ORANGE, the coordinates are N39 16.(244 + X) W076 42.(742 + X)
If the train engine is BLUE, the coordinates are N39 16.(256 + X) W076 42.(697 + X)
If the train engine is WHITE, the coordinates are N39 16.(204 + X) W076 42.(411 + X)
If the train engine is BLACK, the coordinates are N39 16.(252 + X) W076 42.(200 + X)
Hopefully you survived, found the cache, and are enjoying your new home at Terminus. As you look around, you should see a lot of familiar faces from HBO’s the Wire. You now realize that you aren’t outside of Atlanta, but you were outside of Baltimore the whole time! What a clever twist… This cache goes out to Walking Dead superfan Chessie81
