St Paul's Boundary Road
St Paul's can trace its origins back to 1944 when land was purchased at the junction of Musters and Malvern roads to meet future church needs. Wartime restrictions and post-war conditions ruled out building for some years. In between the two wars the parish hall in Church Drive was built; Lady Bay became a parish in 1950 and in 1957 St Luke’s was established out of the Alford Road Mission. In 1958 the suggestion was made that a church be built at the Wilford Hill end of the parish.
Following the development of the Wilford Hill Estate in the early 1950s, it was suggested that a new location be found and land where Boundary Road came to a dead end by the shops was made available. After assurance that Boundary Road would be extended to join Loughborough Road, negotiations were completed to acquire the site in 1957, the plot on Musters/Malvern road having being sold for housing.
The Dedication Service took place on the evening of Friday 1st July 1960. Canon Wilkinson took the service led by a section of St Giles’ choir and the Bishop of Southwell – the late Rt Rev Russell Barry – dedicated the building.
This cache was placed to celebrate Avocet Flyer's children's baptism on the 16th November 2014.
Parking is available on the cul-de-sac adjacent GZ but it can get very busy at school collection times. Do not be tempted to park on the main A60, there is simply too much traffic along it most of the time. The NCT number 8 bus passes by on a regular basis. Try to be stealthy as this is part of a residential area.
