Geocache Description:

St Andrews Alfriston is returning to the Church Micro series.

Dating back to 1360, the aptly-named 'Cathedral of the South Downs' is unique as a village church. Thousands of visitors come to marvel at its beautiful location on the Tye (village green), at the architecture, or simply to enjoy the quiet and peaceful atmosphere inside.

St. Andrew's is set on a small mound by the river and built in the form of a cross. The central tower and spire dominate the skyline, with a peal of six bells which are rung from the centre of the church.  This feature is only seen in about 16 churches in the country; and one of only 2 in the Diocese.

This is a simple multi. In order to find this cache you will need to go to the published co-ords and locate the Church signpost.  A = time of evensong. B= Time of the Holy communion - 2. If you enter the graveyard you need to find the gravestone of Albert Muddle around N50 48.402 E00 09.470, who passed away aged C D.

The cache can be found at North 50 48. A(B-2)C East 000 09.(C/2)0D

Have fun.

“If anybody would like to expand this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first at churchmicro@gmail.com so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication. There is also a Church Micro Stats & Information page found via the Bookmark list”
