Landsfort Herle was een vesting met gracht in, wat nu is, het centrum van Heerlen, Nederland (ruwweg het huidige Pancratiusplein), het werd waarschijnlijk gebouwd door de graven van Ahr-Hochstaden. De naam Landsfort ('fort van het land') komt van het feit dat de fortificatie onder de verantwoordelijkheid van het land is komen te vallen. In de 13e eeuw komt Heerlen, en dus ook Landsfort Herle, in het bezit van de hertogen van Brabant, het Landsfort werd (opnieuw) gebouwd door de hertogen van Brabant in 1244.
De muur wordt beschouwd als een van de oudste nog herkenbare in Nederland en is gedeeltelijk opgegraven.
Een Maquette van het fort werd gebouwd op basis van een kaart uit 1787, gevonden terwijl de Pancratiuskerk zwaar werd gereconstrueerd in de jaren 60. Het fort had drie poorten en had twee torens (de klokkentoren van de kerk en de Schelmentoren, beide met 2 meter dikke muren).
In het dak van de kerk waren kleine kamers voor de inwoners van Heerlen om in te schuilen in geval van vijandelijkheden, helaas zijn deze kamers vernietigd toen een, vermoedelijk Duitse, bom de kerk raakte op oudejaarsavond 1944/1945.
Landsfort Herle was a fortification with moat in, what now is, the centre of Heerlen, Netherlands (roughly the current Pancratiusplein), it was probably built by the counts van Ahr-Hochstaden. The name Landsfort (‘fort of the land’) comes from the fact that the fortification was under the responsibility of the land. In the 13th century Heerlen, and thus also Landsfort Herle, came in to the possession of the Dukes of Brabant, the Landfort was (re)built by the Dukes of Brabant in 1244.
The wall is believed to be one of the oldest still recognisable in the Netherlands, part is now being excavated.
A maquette of the fort was constructed from a map from 1787 found while the Pancratiuskerk was being heavily reconstructed in the 1960s. The fort had three gates and had two towers (the bell tower of the church and the Schelmentoren, both with 2 metre thick walls).
The roof of the church had little rooms in it where the inhabitants of Heerlen could take shelter in case of hostilities, unfortunately these rooms were destroyed when a, supposedly German, bomb hit the church on New Year's Eve 1944/1945.
