Geocache Description:

Mitcheldean Road Station, now long gone, served the communities of The Lea, Mitcheldean and the surrounding area.

Mitcheldean Road Station was built in 1855 and continued to serve its community right up to its closure in 1964. It was initially operated by GWR and was on the Ross-on-Wye to Gloucester route. In 1871 an extension to Drybrook and beyond was constructed but this never fully opened. One tunnel along its route became a munitions store during the war.

The last Station Master was a Mr. Reginald 'Dick' Noden whom Noden Drive is named after, the black and white development that was erected on the old station site.
If you have Geo-hounds please be advised that these should be kept on a lead if livestock are about, thank you.
