Christ Church, East Stour is one of eight churches in the Stour Vale Benefice. The others are Buckhorn Weston, Fifehead Magdalen, Kingston Magma, Stour Provost, Stour Row, Todber and West Stour.
A medieval church was demolished in 1839 on a site slightly East of the current structure. Christ Church was built in 1841/2 by George Alexander in a neo Norman style at a cost of £200. Since then the church has undergone several reorders and refurbishments as a result of voluntary contributions.
Things of note
A Saxon cross was discovered within the parish in 1938 which is now in the British Museum
The font is 12th Century made from Purbeck Marble
The single bell is 16th Century suspended in an 18th Century frame
The author Henry Fielding is reputed to have written "Tom Jones" at the rectory to the medieval church
